Laredo Extravaganza

On Wednesday, September 18, 2019, Stars Scholarship Fund’s community gathered to celebrate the 17th Annual Extravaganza in Laredo, Texas.

On this evening, over 500 Laredoans joined us for cocktails, live auction, dinner catered by Laredo Country Club and a presentation by Col Michael E. Fossum USAFR, (Ret.). Col. Fossum provided a riveting insight into space exploration and his experience as a veteran of three space flights who has logged more than 194 days in space, including more than 48 hours in seven spacewalks, served as an astronaut from 1998 until his retirement in 2017.

Klarissa Mendez, 2019-2020 Stars Scholarship recipient and undergraduate student at Texas A&M international University was a featured speaker and spoke to guests on the impact Stars Scholarship Fund in her life. As a Biology major, Klarissa seeks to attend medical school after receiving her bachelor’s degree with the goal of opening a family practice in Laredo, Texas.

Stars Scholarship Fund is grateful to the business leaders, philanthropists, educators, and community members who attended. Our 2019 Laredo Extravaganza was a huge success, generating over $40,000 from our live auction and raising an additional $100,000 for student scholarships from donations.

Every dollar friends invested in Stars Scholarship Fund produces ripple effects in the community. As a result of this evening, Stars Scholarship Fund will be able to offer an additional $200,000 in scholarships in 2020, after funds are matching by our partnering colleges and universities, such as Texas A&M International University and Laredo College.

We have been blessed with 17 wonderful years in Laredo, with over $2.3 million dollars disbursed in Laredo and 1350 students from Laredo received a Stars Scholarship to attend college.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have the support of the Laredo community in closing the gap between dreams and opportunity for so many students. We appreciate everyone who joined us.

As businesses look at ways that they can give back to our community this year, we ask that they consider supporting the our Annual Laredo Extravaganzas. When supporting Stars Scholarship Fund, 100% of sponsor donations are applied to student scholarships, as our operating expenses are largely covered by L&F Distributors. In addition, our partnerships with Texas colleges and universities enable Stars Scholarship Fund to have sponsor donations matched, allowing our funds to have a greater impact in our community.

El Paso Extravaganza

On October 3, 2019, Stars Scholarship Fund’s community gathered to celebrate the 7th Annual Extravaganza in El Paso, Texas.

On this evening, over 500 El Pasoans joined us for a live auction; appetizers and dinner and an amazing private concert by LANco.

Stars Scholarship Fund is grateful to the business leaders, philanthropists, educators, and community members who attended. Our 2019 El Paso Extravaganza was a huge success, generating over $34,000 from our live auction and raising an additional $190,000 for student scholarships from donations.

Every dollar friends invested in Stars Scholarship Fund produces ripple effects in the community. As a result of this one evening, Stars Scholarship Fund will be able to offer an additional $380,000+ in scholarships in 2020, after funds are matched by our partnering colleges and universities, such as The University of Texas at El Paso and El Paso Community College.

We have been blessed with 7 wonderful years in El Paso, with over $1.4 million dollars disbursed in El Paso and over 850 students from El Paso receiving a Stars Scholarship to attend college.

Perla Renteria, current Stars Scholarship Recipient and graduate student at UTEP was a featured speaker and spoke to guests on the impact Stars Scholarship Fund has on her life and her goals of obtaining her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration. Because of the support of our community, students like Perla have the support needed to succeed in the future.

We had fun. We raised funds. And we felt incredibly fortunate to have your help to close the gap between dreams and opportunity for so many students. Thank you to everyone who joined us and supported us! We hope you enjoyed the delicious dinner in a beautiful space and had good conversations with friends old and new.

McAllen Extravaganza

On Friday April 26, 2019, Stars Scholarship Fund’s community gathered to celebrate the 16th Annual Extravaganza in McAllen, Texas.

On this evening, over 700 of the RGV community joined us for a live auction, appetizers, dinner catered by Stefano’s Catering and a night of comedy featuring Colin Jost of SNL.

Stars Scholarship Fund is grateful to the business leaders, philanthropists, educators, and community members who attended. Our McAllen Extravaganza was a huge success, generating over $50,000 from our live auction and raising $300,000 for student scholarships from sponsorships.

In addition to our Extravaganza, Stars Scholarship Fund entered in to partnerships with both McAllen ISD Education Foundation and Sharyland ISD Education Foundation. Funds raised by both organizations were donated to Stars Scholarship Fund and scholarship funds were guaranteed to Stars applicants from the Class of 2019 from each district respectively.

Every dollar friends invested in Stars Scholarship Fund produces ripple effects in the community. As a result of this one evening and partnerships, Stars Scholarship Fund will be able to offer an additional $700,000+ in scholarships in 2019, after funds are matched by our partnering colleges and universities, such as the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, South Texas College and Texas State Technical Collage in Harlingen.

Corpus Christi Extravaganza

On Saturday, April 27, 2019, Stars Scholarship Fund’s community gathered to celebrate the 16th Annual Extravaganza in Corpus Christi, Texas.

On this evening, over 600 of the Coastal Bend community joined us for a live auction, dinner catered by Texas Roadhouse and a night of comedy featuring Colin Jost of SNL.

Stars Scholarship Fund is grateful to the business leaders, philanthropists, educators, and community members who attended. Our Corpus Extravaganza was a huge success, generating over $30,000 from our live auction and raising $200,000 for student scholarships from sponsorships.
